Self Esteem

All of us want to be loved, have a sense of purpose, feel attractive and accomplished. The truth is that we all have gifts and beauty — we all have something special to offer the world — yet many of us lack the self-esteem to believe in this truth. We may feel we are never enough — not smart enough, good-looking enough, giving enough, or successful enough.

So how do you increase your self-confidence and faith in your strengths and abilities? First, you need to examine where, when, and how you began to acquire the mindset of not being good enough. Did you hear this often growing up, at school, through the media? Once you understand where these negative voices originated, you can begin to silence them and change your self-narrative.

Surrounding yourself with people who believe in you and practicing positive self-affirmations and self-care are all wonderful ways to give your self-esteem a boost. Examining your attitudes, feelings, and personal history with a therapist can also lead to positive changes. A therapist will help you practice building confidence and help dispel your negative self-concept. Remember: you are worth it.
